Team Objective

This objective ensures we have a command structure capable of guiding the experiment through Validation and beyond.

Why: The Leadership Team is the strategic core and nervous system of Smartup Zero during its formation.

As defined in the Social Subsystem, the Leadership Team is composed of all team captains and the initiating entrepreneur. It is the decision-making and coordination body that orchestrates budgets, objectives, and major decisions while remaining accountable to the full community.

Without a functioning Leadership Team:

  • The Smartup cannot coordinate itself. Seven independent teams without a coordination layer will drift apart, duplicate work, or work at cross-purposes.
  • The OSBP cannot be maintained. The Executive Summary section of the Official Smartup Business Plan is the Leadership Team's responsibility.
  • Democratic accountability breaks. There is no body to ensure that team-level work aligns with the General Forum's strategic direction.
  • Validation Phase stalls. We cannot demonstrate that the Smartup model works if we cannot organize our own leadership.

This objective ensures we have a command structure capable of guiding the experiment through Validation and beyond.

How: The Execution Flow:

  1. Form the Core: Ensure the initiating entrepreneur and early captains are in place.
  2. Define the Structure: Create the charter, decision-making processes, and meeting cadence.
  3. Establish the Mandate: Clarify the Leadership Team's responsibilities (OSBP execution, budget oversight, cross-team coordination).
  4. Operationalize: Run regular syncs, publish minutes, maintain the OSBP.
  5. Prepare for Scale: Create the processes for integrating new team captains as they are formed.

What: Structural Deliverables:

  1. Team Registry: Entry in ledger/teams/registry.csv with status = "active".
  2. Role Assignments: book-of-owners.csv updated with 4_1_1 (Founder) and at least one additional captain (e.g., 4_1_3 for Developer).
  3. Team Repository: 3_1_leadership_team repo is the central toolbox repo; ensure it is properly structured and documented.
  4. Role Description: Updated role description for 4_1_1 and any other leadership roles in wiki/4_roles/.

Process Deliverables:
5. Team Charter: A markdown file defining the Leadership Team's purpose, decision-making rules, and accountability mechanisms.
6. Meeting Cadence: Regular syncs (e.g., weekly) with published agendas and minutes.
7. OSBP Stewardship: The Leadership Team takes ownership of the Executive Summary and ensures it is kept current.

Coordination Deliverables:
8. Cross-Team Coordination: Processes for resolving dependencies and conflicts between teams.
9. Budget Oversight: A process for reviewing and approving team budgets and major expenditures.
10. Reporting Pipeline: A regular cadence of reporting to the General Forum on overall project health.
